I would give everything to have every day, all-day full energy. Being able to be productive every day and feel more satisfied every day. To have a logical balance between my time with my family and my time with my goals. Creating my schedule for the day and do what I have to do at the time the schedule says.

This is one of my 101 wishes that I would want to become true if I had the chance. Unfortunately wishes like that don’t come true. However, I think is possible for a human to have the ability to do the above things. Have all-day energy, being productive, being happy constantly. With the right knowledge, mindset, and actions we as humans can achieve anything.

When you wake up in the morning, your actions are defining for the rest of your day. What you will do this 1 or 2 hours in the morning will reflect with what you will do during the rest of the day. You don’t have to have a routine. Some people act better without a routine.

What you need instead is the right answers based on you. Based on your personality and your interests. Among these, there are some things everyone should do when they wake up.

1. Drink a glass of water

Many of you might already know the why behind drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning. You might’ve already read articles or Instagram posts on this topic. However, I will give some details too. If you want, you can skip to the next topic.

You see, there are thousands of researches and thousands of claims whether drinking water with an empty stomach is good. Apart from the health part, this kind of act, improves your mental performance based on an article from Healthline. You can read the article here.

There are also claims about reducing dehydration and other things about your health. Moreover, drinking cold water in the morning can boost your metabolism.

Moreover, based on another article in ThinkProductive (you can read it here), drinking constantly water, improves mood, help you sleep better, helps you stay energized, helps you think clearer and make better decisions.

There are many articles and researches about this topic where you can find in Google. But, I think reading these 2 articles I’ve suggested you will be fully informed about this topic.

So by drinking water, we covered one of the most important factors for a productive day. The factor is “Don’t go to bed again”.

2. Do things that make you happier

What I do every morning is to go for individual soccer training. I don’t do this because I want to have a productive day, but because I have a dream goal of becoming a professional soccer player. But playing soccer makes me happy.

And after a hot, cozy shower I have the necessary boost I need in order to do what I want.

Unfortunately, now with Coronavirus, I’ve reduced the amount going to our local stadium. So alternative I listen to music. I listen to Eminem, which is pure motivation for me. I rap along with him. I’m trying to feel his songs.

What you should do is the exact same thing. Do something that makes you happier. Listen to music. It doesn’t have to be Eminem but it has to be your favorite. Go for a walk. Play with your dog. Do anything that can make you happy.

What you shouldn’t do is something that will only hold you back from your schedule. What I mean is don’t watch a video on Youtube. Because after this video, you’ll want to see another one. Or don’t watch a movie. As we said before, what you do in the morning reflects on what you will do for the rest of the day.

If you watch a movie, if you play a video game you will end up being bored for the rest of the day. You won’t have the necessary energy for a great day. Eventually, you will end up playing video games and being mad at yourself for another shitty day.

So by doing what makes you happy, we covered another important factor. “We are happier and we are more positive for the day”.

3. The breakfast

Your breakfast is the most important meal of your day. You’re probably aware of that but it’s true. And it’s not only true but maybe it’s the most important step of our routine.

Breakfast gives you energy. Mix energy with the happiness from the previous step and you’re almost done.

I’m not an expert on the right diet and what you should eat to take a decent amount of energy. However, I have a basic knowledge as healthy eating is essential for a soccer player.

Here you will find a list with several amazing recipes for a healthy breakfast. Check it out and do what you liked most.

If your time is limited in the morning and you don’t have time for a great breakfast you can eat something quicker.

Oatmeal is one of the most common and healthy breakfasts and snacks in the world. It’s simple, easy and quick. Might not taste good but you can add several ingredients to spice it up. Here you can find some of them (fresh/dried fruits, nuts).

An egg with 2 pieces of bread covered with peanut butter is another great breakfast. It will provide the right protein and carbs, essential for boosting your energy.

You can find many recipes for simple healthy breakfasts if you search Google. However, I gave my recommendation. I think is good to try them

So with the right breakfast, we covered another essential factor. “Have a big amount of energy”.

4. Read a book

Read something. It can be a book about soccer skills. It can be about something you like. It can be anything that will provide you something extra today.

Prefer to read something that you are interested in. Or something about your goals. Something that you interact with every day and is a part of your life. Read something.

For example, I read a lot of soccer books because of my big dream. I read stories from the best. I’m trying to visualize what I would do if I was in their shoes.

You might be wondering why should you read books specifically. And by reading I mean consistent reading. Not just for one day. But I’m sure you read every day as you are a Medium member.

Anyway, according to an article I read maybe 5 months ago which helped me to achieve a great productive day from DeskTime reading a book can improve your focus. With no links to other articles or any distractions that articles have, a book can increase your ability to focus.

When you’re reading a book you have to read the line with full focus so you can move along better and understand better what the novel you’re reading has to give you.

Not only this but it can increase creativity and productivity. You get other people’s ideas and perspective and this can improve your creativity. Also being focus can help you with your productivity because as we said before reading improves focus and productivity is connected with focus.

The reason why I want you to have the reading part in your morning routine is because many of you don’t have the time to put it in your daily schedule.

And the reason why you should read in the morning and not in the night is because something might happen and you end up not having time to read. But you have to be consistent. You can afford not to read at least 20 minutes.

So by reading, we have achieved the last vital factor. “We have more knowledge every day and this boost our confidence”

Now that you have achieved these 4 factors, you are ready to take over your day.

  • You don’t want to go to bed again.
  • You are happier and you are more positive for the day.
  • You have a big amount of energy.
  • You have more knowledge every day and this boosts your confidence.

This checklist is something that has worked for my friends and for my family too. I have to say that I’m happier than ever now that I can control my day.

After all, my wish came true. I’m more productive, I have more energy and what I plan to do is done by the end of the day. You can do it too. You don’t have to try different routines. In fact, you don’t even have to follow the above routine.

Just have in mind the above checklist and do what you can do to achieve each one of them. However, after a lot of trials, I’ve come to the result that these actions are the best to cover the above things.

Until next time!
